Kythnos & Kanala


Kythnos (or Thermia) is an island of Cyclades in Aegean Sea. There are two major villages in the island, Chora and Dryopida and three smaller, Merihas (main port), Loutra and Panagia Kanala.
Main tourist attractions are Katafiki cave and Kolona beach. Kythnos island is also very famous for the beaches and the picturesque chapels.

Kanala village was named after the church of Virgin Mary, the protector of the island. The area has two large beaches, "Megali Ammos" and "Adonides", There is also a smaller one called "Ammoudaki".

In Kanala cape there is a grove of pine trees and the church, with the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary. Every year, in 15th of August, a feast is taking place. The location is ideal for weddings and christenings. Next to this church there is a chapel of St. Calliope.

From Kanala the view to the Aegean Sea is fantastic and you can see Serifos island,Serifopoula and Pepper. When the weather is very clear, you can also see Sifnos and Milos islands.
